Physiotherapy

Sometimes, moving freely is not as easy as it should be. Your body may hurt, or it may not function as it once did. In many cases, physiotherapy can help. It is designed to prevent, treat, and reduce physical complaints, allowing you to stay active and move optimally.

Physiotherapy focuses on maintaining, improving, and restoring mobility and body function. The goal is to reduce discomfort, enhance well-being, and improve quality of life. It can be applied to a wide range of conditions, including chronic complaints. Examples include nerve pain, tennis elbow, knee problems, and various injuries.

Manual therapy

Manual therapy is a specialized form of physiotherapy that focuses on treating often acute problems in the musculoskeletal system, including the spine, pelvis, and all other joints of the body. The goal is to restore joint mobility, improve function, and reduce pain. Techniques often include gentle “cracking” methods inspired by chiropractic and osteopathy, which can provide immediate relief.

A manual therapy treatment may take just one, to only a few sessions, depending on the duration, nature, and severity of your complaints. After the treatment, I provide guidance on exercises you can do at home to maintain and further improve the results.

Manual therapy is also an effective complement to other treatments, such as medication or surgery, helping to support your overall recovery and well-being.

Sports OMT – orthopaedic manual therapy

Costa del Sol, Costa del Golf

Sports OMT (Orthopaedic Manual Therapy for athletes) is a specialized form of sports physiotherapy designed for people active in golf, padel, tennis, horseback riding, SUP, hiking, and other sports who are struggling with injuries or overuse.

This therapy combines the expertise of physiotherapy and manual therapy to ensure that your joints, muscles, and nerves work together optimally. The result? Less pain, increased mobility, and faster recovery, so you can safely and confidently return to your favorite sport.

At Costa Physio, Peter Van der Linden, a certified physiotherapist and manual therapist, creates a personalized treatment plan focused on recovery, performance improvement, and injury prevention.

Using advanced manual chiropractic and osteopathic techniques, targeted exercises, and a detailed movement analysis, he restores your body’s balance and function, allowing you to continue enjoying your sport with strength, stability, and freedom from pain.

Post-surgical rehabilitation

Have you had your knee or hip replaced at Vithas, Compass Clinic, Hospiten, Ochoa, or another hospital near Marbella or Estepona? Or did you receive a spine surgery? Peter Van der Linden from Costa Physio can guide you through a tailored, phased, and functional rehabilitation program that focuses on mobility, strength, stability, and independence, helping you safely return to your daily activities.

The primary goals of rehabilitation are pain and swelling reduction, achieved through cold therapy, mobilizations, and manual lymphatic drainage.

Next, we work on restoring mobility using passive and active mobilization exercises. As muscle strength and coordination improve, we focus on targeted training for the quadriceps, hamstrings, glutes, and hip stabilizers, helping you reintegrate into daily life. Exercises are designed to mimic real-life movements, such as climbing stairs, standing up, and maintaining balance.

This structured, personalized approach ensures a safe and effective recovery, helping you regain full functionality and confidence in your everyday activities.
